Homemade Dog Treats Recipe

Hi all, Today I am supplying you with a homemade dog treats recipe that will delight your tail wagging friends.

I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful month of June! I have been really busy this month but I just wanted to drop in to quickly share with you a recipe I just used to make homemade dog treats for an upcoming bake and craft sale.

My neighbors dog quickly gobbled up the first treat, so hopefully we have a winning recipe. My poor Maggie was unable to have a treat because of her allergies but hopefully I can come up with a recipe or two for some homemade dog treats that I can make for her as well.

Recipe for homemade dog treats:

2 Cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup melted bacon fat

1 large egg

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 cup Swiss cheese (or another cheese that is low in lactose)

1/4 cup raw oats

Combine ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Roll the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Cut and transfer to a cookie sheet. Bake until lightly brown (approximately 20 minutes). Let cool and store in a dry place for up to 4 weeks.

Best Chemical Free Flea and Tick Repellents for Dogs & Cats.

fleas and ticks

Fleas and ticks,

Are not the first thing that comes to mind when I think about spring and summer.  I think about the sunshine on my face, bbq and drinks on the patio and days spent at the beach.

However, I also have to think about all of the other elements of fun I take part in with my dog. Mornings or afternoons spent at the dog park, hiking the trails with her and sitting in our yard stargazing.  Unfortunately, it is not all sunshine and roses.  The risk of my dog contacting ticks and fleas during events like this can be a possibility.

As a pet owner, I do not want to be giving chemical filled shampoos, conditioner or repellents to my dog.  That is why when it comes to tick and fleas I prefer using chemical free products.  This includes repellent, spray, shampoo and conditioner and the four products that I use the most are:

EasyDefense Herbal Flea & Tick Squeeze-On.

Combines the fleas and ticks fighting power of Geraniol, a natural extract of the geranium plant and Peppermint. These active ingredients work to create a topical solution that, when applied, repels fleas and ticks.

Only Natural Pet EasyDefense Herbal Shampoo & Conditioner.

Pet Naturals Flea + Tick Spray for Dogs.

Natural Chemistry FLEA and TICK Repellent Spray.
